No more New Years Resolutions. Been there done that, years of yo-yo dieting, the clothes hanging on the exercise equipment and the new running shoes under the bed. All of these serve as reminders that our bodies are forever changing. Do we notice or are we in denial? Ecclesiastes 3 reminds us that there is ‘A Time for Everything’ and as we anticipate what the coming year will hold, let’s approach it by releasing what is not working, making the time to find what is best for us and hold onto it with both hands. Let’s have a BLESSED NEW YEAR on purpose!

ON PURPOSE!

Years of the yo-yo dieting, the exercise equipment that is used as a coat hanger and the new running shoes under the bed – all serve as reminders that our bodies are forever changing. The problem seems to be, we haven’t caught up with them or we are in denial. Ecclesiastes 3 reminds us that there is ‘A Time for Everything’ And as we anticipate what the coming year will hold, Let’s approach it by releasing all that is not working And hold onto all that brings a smile to God’s face. Let’s have a BLESSED NEW YEAR on purpose!

Here is a Merry Christmas Prayer from my Cousin Cleo

Oh Holy One Who opens the morning with the sunshine and brightens our day with hope and gladness Joyful joyful we adore You You make life a spread of assorted flowers. That grace the noontime of our day Forgive us for not always caring for these flowers Bitterness mixed with pain and sorrow Dry, shaded from the Light and left in darkness Yet they grow despite our neglect O Holy Star shine your Light upon us Help us dear Savior to make music with your Light Tell us the story of a baby wrapped in new life, of hope, redemption, eternity Dear God help us to know the possibilities of your birth We come to be fed and to drink from your well of goodness Help us to walk through the rich soil in the newness of life Divinely prepared for our nights and days In Our Savior's name we pray For Your gifts of love, mercy and grace O Come Emmanuel come close come here Stay with us this Christmas and throughout the year We heard the voice of the Angel Ring, singing loud and

'Twas the night before Christmas'

Twas the night before Christmas, And outside there’s no snow, but it’s chilly and frosty, So where do you go? To the mall, to the movies, A friends’ house you think, But you’ll have to re-gift that something pink. When you arrive, you are welcomed, Hugged and kissed, You feel happy inside, For Christmas is all about this. No gifts or re-gifting, But loving someone Singing carols and sharing Jesus A day filled with fun! MERRY CHRISTMAS!

THE OTHER SIDE In looking back, I can remember there was a period in my life when I was not feeling 100%. After months with no success of trying to figure out what was going on, I surrendered and went to the doctors. Following an examination and tests, the results revealed that I was smack dab in the middle of menopause. My head was spinning with so much information that I received from the doctors. I saw that though menopause is a natural and inevitable time in a woman’s life, it has the capacity to bring chaos to her physical, mental and spiritual well-being. Once I got home, I settled down for a time of prayer with the Great Physician-Jesus. I knew that I was going to need Him to reach the other side of this journey. As He showered me with love, support and encouragement; I realized that with the same measure Jesus poured out in my life, I was to pass on to others; especially those on the same road. During our season of menopause, isolation is a no-no. There are milli

WHO’S DRAWING YOU?

Image
In today’s My Utmost For His Highest devotional, Oswald Chambers calls our attention to WHEN God draws us to Himself. While the drawing comes, it is of our own free will to go. Sort of like the three wise men when they set out to see the baby that was born in the manger. The other day in a store and I was drawn to a T-shirt that said Believe and Receive, but as I got closer I saw that it had a picture of Santa in the middle. There are a lot of things, people and places that will draw us from the real meaning of the season. Christmas per (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christmas) originated as a compound meaning “Christ’s Mass”. We have a couple of more days to prepare the masses to be drawn to the real meaning of the season, go and make every second count.

AN EVENT FOR EVERYONE

Image
The angel of the Lord gave the announcement of the birth of Jesus to the shepherds in Luke Chapter 2. The shepherds believed that the birth of our Savior was an event for everyone. After seeing for themselves, they couldn’t contain the news and went to tell others. The baton has been given to us; let’s help the shepherds spread the GOOD NEWS. Christmas is an event for everyone, for unto us is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord.

KEEPING JESUS IN THE MIDDLE

Have you ever seen an animal thrash about trying to get up after it has been hit by a car? I have and this reminded me of how we struggle to recover after being hit by the holiday spending sprees. Let's be prayerful, so we do not get knocked down by unreasonable debt, unseen distractions and unnecessary desires. We all have been given a gift, one we can unwrap everyday of the year and guess what He's FREE! In all you do, don't forget to keep JESUS in the middle.

Don't forget

In all you do, don't forget to PAUSE!

The REAL Reason For The Season

Image
If I go through life without sharing love with others...I am nothing. If I accumulate wealth, fame and fortune without sharing it with others, I have nothing. Sharing is the REAL Reason For The Season.... When you give it will come back to you......pressed down shaken together and running over!

Whose Report Will You Believe?

You have no idea what it took to get on the computer this morning. It was the agony of defeat…somebody did not want us to have an Ephesians 3:20 day. Today a lot of things will be whispered in your ear and a some things may not go the way you expect them to...but whose report will you believe? Have a THANKFUL Thursday!

Cherish Your Day!

“May joy and peace surround you, contentment latch your door, and happiness be with| | |         |                          you now and bless you evermore.”

Joy & Peace

“May joy and peace surround you, contentment latch your door, and happiness be with you now and bless you evermore.”

Menopause ....NOT!

How come when people do not like what you say to them, they categorize your mood as ...'You must be going through menopause.'   My reply is 'NO' --- I said what I meant and meant what I said. Something to make you go hmmmmmmmmmmm, it just might be how we said it.  Let's make an effort to be aware of the way we communicate and then the words will fall in line....happy talking!!!

Where’s Johnny’s Cap?

A story is told about a family that went on a picnic by a lake. At one point, their 5-year-old son waded into the lake, stepped into deep water, and sank out of sight. None of the adults in the family knew how to swim, so they ran up and down the shore in panic while the child bobbed up and down and screamed for help. Just then, a man happened by who sized up the situation, leaped into the lake, and rescued the boy. He climbed out on the bank with the child, who was frightened but unharmed, only to hear the mother ask with irritation, “Where’s Johnny’s cap?” So often we focus on small disappointments that cause us to grumble and complain rather than focusing on the wonderful things God has brought into our lives, not the least of which is His everlasting love and eternal salvation. When we complain about the small dissatisfactions of life, we’re asking, in effect, “Where’s Johnny’s cap?” Paul wrote, “In everything give thanks” ( 1 Thess. 5:18 ). We may not be thankful for everythin

Pausing With God

Does just the sound of the word menopause send chills up your spine? Have you ever wondered what you're going to do when it’s your turn? Do you find yourself looking in the mirror, wanting to know how to get a grip on the changes that you are going through? Or, have you already experienced menopause, and now you can sit in the bleachers and cheer the rest of us on? As it builds precept upon precept,  Pausing With God is a book that speaks to all women of all ages. Whether you're approaching menopause or finding yourself smack-dab in the middle of it, we can gather comfort and encouragement from knowing that this is the  very season that fine-tunes our bodies.

About Sheri Powell

Sheri Powell is well aware that menopause is a natural and inevitable time in a woman’s life. She didn’t realize that there was a way to walk through this season VICTORIOUSLY until she had to struggle with the symptoms herself. Before coming to the Lord, she lived her life depending on other people to provide answers and solutions to the various dilemmas she would undoubtedly find herself. Even though she had occasionally visited various churches at a young age, she only came to know of the Lord. A relationship with Jesus Christ would not manifest until her adult years. In the meantime, she grew up in a community housing area and took advantage of some of the benefits it provided. As a teenager, she tutored elementary school children, and her love for the younger generation blossomed. Sheri fully surrendered to Jesus Christ on April 12, 1989. At that time, God began to give her beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for all her mourning, and the garment of praise for her
