FROWNING UPSIDE DOWN

Image
Shhhhhhh, listen; as another school year ends, can you hear the parents, teachers and faculty yelling ‘We did it!’ You all have been through the ringer. From transitioning to instructing kids from their homes to returning back to the classrooms. Yes, You did it! Before we let you shut down the building for a few months, we are trying to make one last visit. I have three grands who bring such joy to my heart. Today was grand number two’s turn. The night before, her mom shared that she should expect a surprise at lunch time. My inquisitive grand tried to guess, but her mom wasn’t given in no matter how many times she blurted out the wrong response. On the way to grand number two’s school, I daydreamed about what kind of facial expression we were going to see displayed on her face. I pulled in the school parking lot, got out the car and hurriedly walked in the front door and checked in. After I was directed to lunch area, I sat down. I thought hmm, maybe I’ll record her expression, ...

DANCING TO HIS BEAT

The piano is a widely recognized instrument for its beautiful sound.  Each key has a different range, from soft to strong.  One would think the greater the force, the louder the sound. Actually, it’s not the applied pressure that determines the volume, but the speed with which the keys are depressed.  In addition, relaxed hands tend to give you more control and produce a better sound. Although some are gifted and can play the piano without acquiring any lessons, there are those; like myself who are challenged.  During my first lesson, I was amazed to find that when you sit down to a piano; there is a correct posture for your hands, arms and feet. I have dispelled the myth that you cannot study this instrument while sitting on the couch.

THE LEGENDARY MENSTRUAL CYCLE IT STARTS AND ENDS WITH …a period, which is also known as menstruation. Our menstruation is a healthy and natural part of our life, which we experience in what are known as cycles.  These cycles are counted from the first day of 1 period to the first day of the next period.  An average menstrual cycle is 28 days long. Women normally have two ovaries that store and release eggs. Each ovary is about the size of a walnut, and one ovary is located on each side of the uterus. One ovary produces one egg each month, and this process starts a woman's monthly menstrual cycle. The majority of women not only have the task of enduring the menstrual cycle, but also the journey through menopause.  So now you are probably wondering what the Menstrual Cycle has in to do with Menopause.  For one both of them begin with three common letters: M-E-N.   But seriously…because Menopause has four stages, Premenopause, Perimenopause, Menopause and...

HALLELUJAH!

I recently attended a Women’s Conference and had the awesome privilege of meeting recording artist Heather Williams.   During her ministry of performance she shared with us how the song, Hallelujah was birthed.   As I was listening to this song over and over again, I saw that even in the midst of what we are going through, as long as we have breathe in our bodies; we can still sing.   I know some of you have days when you are tired of your sleep being disturbed by a night sweat, and how about those unexpected hot flashes; one of my sister-friends calls them precious moments.                       While we do not make light of what you may be going through during your season of Menopause, know that our heart’s desire is to spread the message that Menopause is a natural and inevitable time in a woman’s life.   We are often reminded that this journey is not an ...
